Griffin is making progress at River Mill Lofts. Earlier this year, our team began helping rebuild the 253-unit complex after Hurricane Helene left significant flooding and damage. As part of our ongoing restoration work, we are reconstructing the wetland stormwater basin that was completely devastated during the storm.
We’ve removed large deposits of debris and muck, restored the stormwater structures, replaced piping and sidewalk, and recontoured the basin and surrounding grades that were washed away. The final planting phase includes installing more than 300 plants to create a small wetland microbiome that is designed to naturally filter contaminants before stormwater is discharged back into the Swannanoa River.
